In the season of good will to all we have chosen to put our charity collection from fines and collections towards the Huggard centre, a Cardiff-based charity tackling homelessness and seeking to overcome the problems and barriers that force individuals to sleep rough on our streets.
Having raised £381.50 to spend We managed to purchase a much needed 12 sleeping bags, 20 towels and a selection of different meats for their Christmas dinner. All essential from their wish list and we are assured that it will all be put to immediate use.
The Huggard is Cardiff’s Community Homelessness Charity. Hubbard also has the only full service day centre in Cardiff – open to all.
The Huggard – We have a day centre managing over 30,000 visits over 365 days of the year, a 20 bed hostel, an Emergency Overnight Stay Unit, 14 shared houses with 53 tenants and relevant support.
All this is underpinned by development, advocacy, support, training, substance abuse advice, subsidised meals, washing facilities, clothing and volunteering opportunities.
When the temperature drops below zero we open up our Day Centre’s floor space to offer dry, warm and safe sleeping facilities for many more vulnerable people within our local community.
We all agree this is a truly worthy cause, so thank you all for your contribution
