The team at Safestyle Security Services is made up of experienced, highly trained professionals who are passionate about safety and service. From SIA-licensed officers to NVQ-qualified stewards, our people are the backbone of every successful event we deliver—reliable, professional, and always ready to adapt.

Darren Edwards

Darren is the founder and Managing Director of Safestyle, with over 30 years’ experience in all aspects of UK security. He is a respected industry leader and has shaped the company into a professional and trusted partner of many recognised events.

Having managed major events across the UK, Darren also has a passion for supporting grass roots and local events in Wales.

As part of the UKCMA board, Darren has contributed to the growth of the crowd management industry, and as the treasurer he manages the financial portfolio. Darren’s responsibilities are focused on leadership and delivering the company vision.

When he isn’t working, Darren is a family man and still enjoys trying to stay fit.

Quals: FDA, Close Protection License, Crowd Manager, Showstop Professional Certificate, PTLLS, IOSH Managing Safely in Events..

Stuart Grocott

Having worked at his first event in the 1990s, Stuart oversees operations at Safestyle. He has significant event and stadia experience and can often be found coaching and mentoring staff on the ground. He enjoys managing sporting events as well as festivals and is the Safestyle Operational lead for Glastonbury and Chief Steward at Parc Y Scarlett’s.

Stuart’s responsibilities include organizing and delivering operations, managing the office and is a member of the senior management team as well as a client relationship manager.

Stuart’s passion is watching most sports, but especially rugby.

Quals: Control Room Operations Manager, Showstop Professional Certificate, Level 5 Crowd Safety Manager, PTLLS, IOSH Managing Safely in Events.

Simon Webb

Simon has 30 years of security experience working both domestically and overseas on security projects. He supports Safestyle in project and client management and leads the Ironman projects.

As the chair of the Fellows admission board for the ISRM, Simon also works collaboratively with global risk mitigation partners to reduce event exposure.

Out of work, Simon is a keen triathlete, open water swim coach and trains beach lifeguards.

Quals: CSMP F.ISRM Msyl Crowd Manager, Showstop Professional Certificate, Close Protection License.

Sian Valters

Sian joined the company in 2018 and has managed the HR, Payroll, administration and finance for seven years.

Sian is a proud Swindon Town supporter and is often found making the journey across the bridge with her family.

Quals: Facilities Management Level 3, Security Screening.

 

Christopher Tyler-Grocott

Chris’s role at Safestyle focuses on recruitment, screening and vetting, and onboarding of new staff. Chris joined the company in 2023 as a steward and has since enjoyed a promotion to the work in the office support team. Chris also works within the operational support group.

Chris loves to walk in the hills and enjoys spending time around the Brecon Beacons.

Quals: Facilities Management Level 3, Door Supervision License, Security Screening.

Julie Fitzsimmons

Julie manages the West Wales Operations and is operational lead for Swansea Arena. Julie has worked for Safestyle for over 8 years and joined the management team in 2023 and since then has developed her leadership skills to exceed the needs of her clients. Approachable and adaptable, Julie enjoys her role and is most happy when leading by example. Julie’s hobbies include camping,  and she loves being on the coast.

Quals: Close Protection License and Crowd Management Supervision, Level 5 Crowd Safety Manager, Showstop Professional Certificate.

Gavin Hawkings

Gavin is an Operations Manager at Safestyle, bringing with him nearly three decades of experience in the security industry. Having started his career in 1996, Gavin joined Safestyle in 2001 and went on to build extensive hands-on experience across a range of roles, beginning with licensed venues including pubs and nightclubs before progressing into festival security and crowd management.

After taking a five-year sabbatical to pursue a different career path, Gavin returned to Safestyle with an enhanced skillset and renewed perspective. In his current role as Operations Manager, he plays an important part in supporting the delivery of safe, professional, and effective security operations.

Quals: Level 5 Crowd Safety Manager, Door Supervision License, PTLLS, Risk Management, Showstop Professional Certificate.
